| Message: | I am an author going by name of Franklyn E. Dailey Jr. I write 20th Century History. My website since 1997 is www.daileyint.com Graduate USNA June 1942 now Capt. USNR Ret Relevant book to this message is "The Triumph of Instrument Flight: A Retrospective in the Century of U.S. Aviation" ISBN 0966625137 1st Ed.2004. I need a photo of a PBY-5A for an article in the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association 'Shipmate' Sea Stories to appear in their web publication. Article is an excerpt from the book above of a thrilling rescue in the North Pacific in 1946. A PBY-5A out of Adak cooperated with a PB4Y-2 out of Kodiak to direct a sub out of Seattle to save three soldiers drifting rapidly in a BSP in a terrible storm, with no power and no communications. No remuneration to me is involved. Strictly for history buffs. I was copilot in the PB4Y-2. |
